Home is where the heart is

Last August I decided to start a project about my life in Germany as Au Pair gathering all the pictures I took during the past 12 months there. And that's how "Home is where the heart is: Living in Germany at the age of 18" was born.
I wanted to do something different, to tell a story, to inspire people. Before I travelled to Germany, I had a meeting with an friend who also worked as Au Pair and she explained how things usually are, what were the things I'd possibly feel and how to deal with them...But, as you know, words get lost in the wind...And I didn't believe her much until  it started to happen to me. The first three months are okay, everything seems so new and different. After those three months, things start to change and I'd say there's a lot of confussion and melancholy...but these feelings dissapear around the 6th month, where life starts to stabilize and everything seems to be better...And thats when you have to start to get ready to say goodbye.
That was basically one of the reasons why I decided to make this project, that luckily, was very well received by the public, and I got a gallery for a month where the exhibition was made. An amount of 42 pictures, each of them with a story or little things written by me, except for a few quotes that I added because I thought they were inspirational.
The opening night was on October 11th and the exhibit was in the Gallery until November 15th...I'm very happy to say the feedback was more then amazing and I'm glad people found my work inspirational and interesting.
"Home is where the heart is" is an exhibit about emotions, feelings, and how to deal with change being so far away from what we tend to call "home", and that's why I also named the project like that, since I met amazing people abroad that made the whole process way much easier. The exhibit contains pictures form Germany, France, and Netherlands. Most of them were taken in 2011-2012, but there is a small set that belongs back in 2009, my first time in Germany, also by myself.
If you are interested and want to see the pictures that were part of the exhibition, you can check them here (unfortunately, I haven't put up the stories that belong to each picture due to copyright reasons)

I hope you like them!
